How do you set out to build a system robust enough to prepare a Navy SEAL for battle, but with the form factor and design that the average athlete would be comfortable wearing 24 hours a day?
At WHOOP, that’s exactly what we think about, day in, day out. Our team is comprised of engineers, designers, mathematicians, physiologists, and athletes. We’re focused on building a product that we want to wear.
At WHOOP, our mission as a culture and workplace mimics our mission as a product and service. We are creating a product that makes individuals and teams perform at a higher level through a deeper understanding of their bodies and daily lives. Our mission: Higher performance through accountability and knowledge. We are a team that owes it to our customers, but even more so to ourselves, to be accountable.
As Firmware Engineer at WHOOP, your responsibilities will include design, code, and validate software on embedded processors for use in a wearable device, as part of a cross-functional team comprised of software and electrical engineers. The ideal candidate enjoys coding and debugging at the hardware level. Adapt to changing requirements while still producing quality software with tight deadlines. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely. Candidate must be comfortable working with hardware and test equipment.
As Manufacturing Lead at WHOOP, you will be responsible for the manufacture of our wearable device. You will work with R&D to define manufacturing needs and transfer the product from R&D to high volume manufacturing. You must have start-up experience and ability to build out a team and processes. You will manage contract manufacturing and other vendor relationships. You must be hands on to create and maintain Assembly and Work Instructions, BOMs, Work Orders, and Testing Procedures.
As the Quality Engineer at WHOOP, you will be responsible for writing the product specifications across the WHOOP platform encompassing software, mobile app, and hardware designs. You will track, trend, and report on customer complaints and non-conforming products. You will develop and maintain quality system and procedures, inspection plans, process validation, and equipment qualification procedures. You will perform internal and supplier quality audits and review DHFs, DMRs and DHRs for accuracy and compliance.
As the Product Manager at WHOOP™, you will be responsible for driving the product requirements across Whoop’s platform encompassing software, mobile app, and hardware. You will work closely with the CEO to define the product strategy of the Company and ensure timely release of products. You will work cross-functionally with marketing, sales, software and hardware engineers to make sure we are building a great customer experience. To be successful at this position, you will need to interface with our customers, understand their needs, define feature sets and priorities, and communicate those internally.
As a Mobile Engineer at WHOOP™, you will be responsible for the development and architecture of our various mobile applications. The WHOOP app presents an interesting set of programming challenges as it will include a complex UI with interactive and constantly updating graphs. The app will also have to process and display massive amounts of data that is continuously streamed from our proprietary bluetooth peripheral. The role involves working closely with a talented development team, brainstorming UI/UX, and implementation in Objective-C and Java.
WHOOP was founded in 2012 by Will Ahmed, a Harvard College Scholar and Captain of the Harvard Men’s Varsity Squash Team. Will was soon joined by Harvard classmates, John Capodilupo and Aurelian Nicolae. As CTO, Capo utilizes his knowledge as a world class mathematician and son of academic physiologists to marry the technical sophistication and physiological backbone of the WHOOP system. Aurelian is responsible for rapid prototyping and mechanical engineering. Aurelian graduated with a Mechanical Engineering degree from Harvard, where his expertise earned him the nickname, “King of the 3D Printer.” Today you’ll find the founders laughing, yelling, or quietly wearing their headphones.
At WHOOP, we are privileged to work with some of the most brilliant and creative minds in the world. The Advisory Board includes mathematicians, professors, cardiologists, engineers, marketing executives, and designers. We work together to deliver the most sophisticated solution to help athletes optimize performance.
