How do you set out to build a system robust enough to prepare a Navy SEAL for battle, but with the form factor and design that the average athlete would be comfortable wearing 24 hours a day?
At WHOOP, that’s exactly what we think about, day in, day out. Our team is comprised of engineers, designers, mathematicians, physiologists, and athletes. We’re focused on building a product that we want to wear.
At WHOOP, our mission as a culture and workplace mimics our mission as a product and service. We are creating a product that makes individuals and teams perform at a higher level through a deeper understanding of their bodies and daily lives. Our mission: Higher performance through accountability and knowledge. We are a team that owes it to our customers, but even more so to ourselves, to be accountable.
WHOOP was founded in 2012 by Will Ahmed, a Harvard College Scholar and Captain of the Harvard Men’s Varsity Squash Team. Will was soon joined by Harvard classmates, John Capodilupo and Aurelian Nicolae. As CTO, Capo utilizes his knowledge as a world class mathematician and son of academic physiologists to marry the technical sophistication and physiological backbone of the WHOOP system. Aurelian is responsible for rapid prototyping and mechanical engineering. Aurelian graduated with a Mechanical Engineering degree from Harvard, where his expertise earned him the nickname, “King of the 3D Printer.” Today you’ll find the founders laughing, yelling, or quietly wearing their headphones.
At WHOOP, we are privileged to work with some of the most brilliant and creative minds in the world. The Advisory Board includes mathematicians, professors, cardiologists, engineers, marketing executives, and designers. We work together to deliver the most sophisticated solution to help athletes optimize performance.
